Brown Absorbable Chromic Gut 4-0 J-1 27" Suture is a sterile, absorbable surgical suture composed of purified connective tissue, primarily collagen, derived from the serosal layer of beef intestine. It undergoes treatment with chromic salts to enhance resistance to enzymatic degradation, thereby prolonging its absorption time compared to plain gut sutures. 

The suture features a reverse cutting J-1 needle, which provides improved penetration through dense or tough tissues such as skin, making it suitable for various general and superficial surgical closures. The needle design reduces tissue trauma while ensuring secure placement with minimal resistance, enhancing procedural efficiency and reliability during suturing.

Chromic gut sutures typically retain tensile strength for 10 to 14 days and are completely absorbed by the body within 90 days via enzymatic digestion.
